What Needs to be Included in a Proposal
  1. A table of contents for the volume, including authors and tentative titles for their chapters.
  2. A statement of what the central problem, question, or thesis of the volume will be and why it is important.
  3. A description of how each of the articles in the volume will contribute to this central focus.
  4. A description of how the volume will be of interest to a broad audience of developmental scholars.
  5. Short bios (3-4 sentences) on each editor and lead author that describe their current positions and qualifications for contributing to this volume.
  6. A time schedule for completing the volume.
Hints on Preparing a Strong Proposal
  1. This proposal should be seen as a persuasive document (like a grant proposal or book prospectus) that makes the case that your volume will be of high quality and influential to the field.
  2. A proposal will be more persuasive if it demonstrates that the editors understand the importance of effective writing. This can be achieved both through a well-written prospectus and through the editors expressing the intent to insure that the articles in their volume will be well-written.
  3. We also recommend that you review the statement on the "Scope and Mission" of NDCAD and be attentive to how your proposal fits within that scope.
  4. A proposal typically will be about 4-5 pages long
Submission and Review
  1. Electronic submission of proposals in Word, RTF, or PDF format is required. Proposals should be submitted to both Editors-in-Chief.
  2. We provide a response to your submission within approximately one month. Proposals may be sent out for external review.
Format
  1. A volume comprises about five to seven chapters, including an introductory chapter that discusses the central new idea joining together all chapters in the volume.
  2. The word count for a volume must be between 35,000 and 40,000 words.
