Description

Gender socialization results in stereotypes that usually operate to women's disadvantage socially, politically, and economically because certain characteristics seen as feminine are viewed as less desirable than characteristics commonly viewed as masculine. the community college needs to be responsive to changes in American society and thus responsive to the actual, not stereotypically conceived, needs of female and male students, faculty, and administrators. Being sensitive to the relationship between gAnder and power provides institutional leaders with an opportunity to be pathfinders in higher education. This is the 89th issue in the journal series New Directions for Community Colleges.
